What Is Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment given to women and men suffering from declining sex hormones. In females, declining Estrogen levels eventually result in the onset of Menopause. In males, declining Testosterone levels result ion a condition called Hypogonadism.

Signs and Symptoms of Menopause and Low Estrogen Levels in Women Include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Low sex-drive
  • Painful Sex
  • Sleeping Problems
  • Extreme mood changes and irritability

Signs and Symptoms of Hypogonadism and low Testosterone in Males include:

  • Reduced sex drive
  • Reduced stamina and energy
  • Weight gain
  • Reduced strength and muscle mass

Hormone replacement treatment has been clinically proven to help decrease these symptoms, and restore energy and vitality in both men and women. HRT can also help prevent arthritis, osteoporosis, muscle loss, weight gain and fatigue.

During menopause, your estrogen levels fall. Some women get uncomfortable symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal dryness. HRT (also known as hormone therapy, menopausal hormone therapy, and estrogen replacement therapy) is the most effective treatment for menopause symptoms.

If a woman is having symptoms of menopause after a hysterectomy (surgery to remove the uterus) or a hysterectomy with bilateral salpingoophorectomy (surgery to remove the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries), doctors may suggest a low dose of estrogen. Estrogen comes in different forms. The daily pill and patch are the most popular, but the hormone also is available in a vaginal ring, gel, or spray.

For men, testosterone replacement therapy is commonly used to treat hypogonadism, a condition that causes low levels of testosterone (low-t). Men’s testosterone levels can decline naturally, typically around age 30. Certain health conditions, or even lifestyle habits can also cause Low T. Symptoms such as persistent tiredness, chronic fatigue, brain fog, sexual deficiencies, even depression could start to appear. Testosterone replacement therapy can help correct T levels and reverse these symptoms to get you feeling like you again. Finding out if you have Low T is easy. Just schedule an appointment at one of our clinics. A simple blood test will reveal if your T levels are low.
