Ketamine Therapy in Hawaii
Treatment for Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and Chronic Pain

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is an FDA approved anesthetic/dissociative medication that has been safely used for decades in anesthesiology for pain reduction and sedation for medical procedures. Recent evidence has also shown that Ketamine can improve brain function.

How is Ketamine administered?

Ketamine can be administered in several forms including, IV, injection, oral, and nasal. IV administration has been shown to be much more effective, with higher absorption rates and efficacy.

What conditions is Ketamine used to treat?

Ketamine has been clinically shown to improve a variety of physical and mental conditions including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Chronic Pain Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Complex Regional Pain Disorder
  • Migraine Headaches
  • Suicidal Thoughts
How many treatments are required?

The number of Ketamine infusion treatments depends on a variety of factors including:

  • Condition being treated
  • Ongoing psychiatric/psychological care and follow up
  • Tolerance of treatments
  • Lifestyle management during and after treatments
  • IV nutritional and molecular supplementation with treatment
Most evidence-based treatment protocols endorse 2 infusions per week for 3-4 weeks for a total of 6-8 infusions. We will administer 1-2 treatments per week, depending on your condition and medical evaluation. After the initial series, we will then determine the best treatment regimen for your specific condition. Some patients report significant improvements after their first treatment, with most requiring at least 3 treatments.

Ketamine w/NAD therapy

The Advanced medical team also offers unique combination therapy with Ketamine and NAD+. Clinical studies are starting to show significant improvements in results when NAD+ is combined with Ketamine. The results can often be dramatic and immediate when used together to treat certain challenging mental health conditions.
What to Expect during treatment?

Upon arrival to the clinic, you will be taken to a private room where the treatment will be administered. The treatment will typically last between 1-3 hours, depending on condition being treated. During that time, you will be sitting in a comfortable lounge chair in a quiet area. You will be closely monitored by the medical staff during the treatment.

You will likely be awake and in a very relaxed and possibly in a “dream like” state during most of the treatment. The goal is to reduce the barriers of your consciousness to reduce fears, anxieties and allow you to explore areas of yourself and your unique experiences without interference.

You may experience some mild nausea and dizziness with the treatment and may be premedicated and/or treated with medication to reduce those affects if they are more severe. The dose given for mental health treatment is much lower than doses used for procedural anesthesia, thus the side effects and complication risks are much lower.

You will undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation prior to treatment by our medical staff to ensure you are safe to receive Ketamine infusion. Some patients may also undergo a psychiatric assessment prior to treatment to ensure the proper condition is being recognized and treated.

Following the treatment, you will be monitored for 30 minutes to ensure there are no adverse effects. You will be required to have a friend or family member take you home after treatment, so please make appropriate transportation arrangements prior to arrival to the clinic.
